Is there a story behind your business name?

We wanted a name for the business that was connected to the area we live and is also relevant to the product. Your palms are essential when bread making and we are fortunate to live in the beautiful Pacific Palms area.

Who is involved in the business?

We are husband and wife team, Kieren and Lara Weber.

How did you get started in the baking business?

We never in a million years thought we’d be baking for a living, however, when we moved to the area we found there was a serious lack of quality sourdough. We were forever asking our friends and family who were visiting from Sydney to bring bags of sourdough with them and we would freeze it. So from our experience alone, we knew there was a huge opportunity locally, and just jumped in feet first. Kieren built a masonry oven and we started teaching ourselves the art of sourdough baking.

There was lots of trial and error, and still is! We were very lucky to have a great mentor at the beginning who had done exactly what we were trying to do, he gave us hours of his time and is still on call whenever we need support. Once we started there was no stopping, we were going to make it work.

What products do you offer?

Naturally Leavened sourdough breads, sourdough cinnamon rolls and artisan organic cranberry and macadamia muesli.

What are your core business beliefs?

The quality of our ingredients is non-negotiable. This was initially a tough decision as opting for organic and local produce comes at a higher cost. We just have to remind ourselves that we can’t compare our prices with mass production. It’s an ethical decision we made at the beginning and one we are proud to uphold.

What does it mean to you to be part of the Great Lakes Food Trail?

The GLFT is a perfect mix of farms and producers all working together to promote each other and the area, it's wonderful to have each other’s support and, encouragement.
